Melanie M. Novak, M.D.
Melanie M. Novak, M.D. received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Marquette University
in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is a graduate of Northwestern University Medical School
in Chicago, Illinois. She completed an Anesthesiology residency at the Medical College
of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia and a pain management fellowship at Northwestern
Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Novak specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of pain including:
headaches, neck and low back pain, shoulder, hip, and knee discomfort, and various types
of nerve pain.
Dr. Novak uses a multidisciplinary approach when it comes to treating chronic pain
using injection treatments and medications along with physical and behavior therapy.
Each patient receives an individualized treatment plan that best addresses his or her
specific pain needs. Her goal is to see each and every patient feel their best and enjoy the
activities of daily living. A special area of interest is pain in the elderly.
Dr. Novak performs all types of injection therapies in the cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral spine regions including epidurals, medial nerve/facet joint blocks, selective nerve root injections, sympathetic nerve blocks, intra-articular injections, radiofrequency nerve ablation, CRPS, neuropathies, spinal cord stimulation trials along with medication management.
Outside of the office, Dr. Novak enjoys all types of water sports, especially scuba diving
with her teenage daughter, ballroom dancing, and gardening.
